Induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs) are a type of pluripotent stem cell artificially derived from a non-pluripotent cell, typically an adult somatic cell, by inducing a "forced" expression of specific genes. Induced pluripotent stem cell is pluripotent, which means that it can rise to any cell in the body of adults.
Adult non-pluripotent cells can be changed in iPSCs by advertising of some genes, with properties very similar to embryonic stem cells. Their advantage is that they are patient's own cells and thus eliminates the problem of immunological intolerance, as in cells derived from embryos.
