This is a data source describing emerging biotechnology trends in developing countries and in Central and Eastern Europe. It includes information on government policy and legislation, biotechnology programmes, research centres, universities, private companies, and national societies and organizations in each country. The first section consists of individual country profiles, describing national policy, funding, and biotechnology research initiatives particular to that country. The second section is a directory of names and addresses of selected research institutes, and details on their research activities particular to that country. The final section of the book consists of overview articles, describing international initiatives in different areas of biotechnology, such as agri-good, health and the environment.
