Enantis - Chief Technology/Scientific Officer

Type of job: full-time

Enantis is a biotechnology company developing, manufacturing and selling novel proteins and enzymes. By using our unique protein stabilization technology, we are addressing the problem of poor stability of proteins. We are currently focusing on stabilizing proteins from the family of fibroblast growth factors (FGFs). Our first product, patented FGF2-STAB, is being manufactured at our ISO-certified production facilities and distributed globally through leading provider of life science solutions. We are providing protein engineering services to external companies and continue developing a pipeline of products for the growing research, cell therapy and healthcare market.

A newly created position will join a management team to develop a long-term R&D strategy that can be translated into sustainable business. Selected candidate will directly report to CEO and will closely work with the current Chief Scientific Officer on the growing number of R&D projects.

 

Key responsibilities:
  • Setting up the long-term R&D strategy in line with the company business goals
  • Leading the team of scientists, supporting R&D staff with their projects
  • Setting external R&D collaborations and partnerships to support the company strategy
  • Implementation of new protein engineering methods and tools into company pipeline (in tight collaboration with Masaryk University’s Loschmidt Laboratories)
  • Identification of new commercially attractive candidate molecules, for company’s product portfolio
  • Search for new applications of the company’s current product portfolio
  • Planning and executing new innovative projects
  • Delivering technical presentations to our partners and customers
  • Preparation of grant and patent applications as well as projects for contracted research
Essential:
  • Ph.D. in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Microbiology, Biophysics and related field
  • Postdoctoral experience (ideally international)
  • A strong scientific background, internationally competitive track-record in science
  • Knowledge of relevant technology trends
  • Creativity and technical problem-solving skills
  • Excellent leadership and management skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills in English
  • Experience with writing grant proposals
  • Experience with supervision and/or mentoring
Desirable (welcome but not essential):
  • Exposure to company environment
  • Experience with product development
  • Experience with protein design and engineering
