Summary: Two Spanish public research organizations have developed an antibody that reacts preventing or modulating complement system activity. The antibody lock effectively the generation of the C3 convertase of the alternative pathway of complement activation, whose deregulation is related to different illness such as multiple sclerosis and ischemia among others. The researchers are looking for biotech or pharmaceutical companies for a further development under a patent license.
