Job description:
We seek a highly motivated individual to join an EU-funded research project within Cardiovascular Sleep Research Center which objective is to explore the role of sleep disordered breathing, particularly sleep apnea, in pathophysilogy, progression, diagnostics and treatment of the most devastating cardiovascular diseases, such heart failure, coronary heart diseases, hypertension and cardiac arrhythmias, including atrial fibrillation and sudden cardiac death.
Cardiovascular Sleep Research Center (CSRC) is located at International Clinical Research Center, Department of Cardiovascular Diseases, St. Anne's University Hospital, Brno, Czech Republic. CSRC is multidisciplinary center, consisting of specialists in field of cardiology, sleep medicine, neurology, pneumology, functional diagnostics and biomedical engineering. Center is lead by Assoc. Prof. Tomas Kara, MD, PhD. The CSRC was funded as one of the first center in the EU that focuses specifically on research and clinical programs related to role of sleep apnea in pathophysilogy, progression, diagnostics and treatment of cardiovascular disorders. Important part of the CSRC is dedicated to development of novel technologies for diagnostics and treatment of sleep disordered breathing, as well as novel technologies for cardiac and CNS electrophysiology.
CSRC has long-term collaboration with leading research teams in this field in the world, particularly with Teams of Prof. Virend Somers (Mayo Clinic), Prof. Krzysztof Narkiewicz (University of Gdansk) and Prof. Nicola Montano (University of Milan). Majority of CSRC specialists underwent a study stay at Mayo Clinic in Prof. Virend Somers Laboratory.
CSRC currently consists of two sleep research laboratories comprehensively equipped with state-of-the art technologies for diagnostics and treatment of sleep disordered breathing and for assessing the cardiovascular consequences of sleep apnea on organism, including autonomic testing, hemodynamic assessment, etc. Two new sleep laboratories are expected to be open within next two months.
Important part of the EU-funded project REGPOT is dedicated to establishing the European Cardiovascular Sleep Research Program, that will link key European centers that are focused on cardiovascular aspects of sleep disordered breathing.

The applicants are required to have a solid knowledge in sleep cardiology and personal experience in performing and assessing research sleep studies in patients with cardiovascular diseases. Required experiences are defined below:
