Group Leader, Rat Integrative Physiology

We are seeking a talented individual to establish and run a scientific research group in the field of rat integrative physiology. Special consideration will be made to applicants whose research experience incorporates metabolic regulation, cardiovascular function, neurophysiology, or behaviour. Affiliated with the Czech Centre for Phenogenomics (http://www.phenogenomics.cz/), you will have ready access to newly established resources contained in-house, including advanced imaging and phenotyping infrastructure (e.g. micro-ultrasound, PET-CT, histopathology, clinical chemistry). Furthermore, you will have access to novel genetically modified rat models, generated and subjected to our systematic primary phenotypic screening pipeline. Although not required for mutant generation and primary phenotyping, the selected candidate will be involved in the mutant model prioritization and selection process and will be expected to incorporate these rat models in their own research projects.

• The position is available immediately for fixed-term until December 2015. After this period, the successful researcher will have the opportunity to get further long-term appointment within BIOCEV.
• For the position we expect applicants to have MSc, MD or DVM and PhD (or equivalent) with relevant research experience and publications. Good command of English is required, other languages are an asset.

The Institute of Molecular Genetics is a leading Czech research institute in the field of genetics that sets up the CCP as part of the BIOCEV project (www.biocev.eu), in which biomedical research institutes of the Czech Academy of Science and two faculties of Charles University are involved. This new scientific centre is going to be built in the municipality of Vestec in the close vicinity to Prague and should employ up to 600 persons in next few years.
