Head of Laboratory of Karyology and Cytogenetics / Research
Type of job: full-time
The position encompasses:
- setting-up of the laboratory (equipment for karyology and cytogenetics is available); management and further methodological development of the laboratory
- design, implementation and publication of state-of-the-art research in plant karyology, cytogenetics and cytogenomics along the lines of the Institute's general research directions (see www.ibot.cas.cz)
- providing the lab infrastructure for other working groups, coordination of lab users, supervision of graduate / postgraduate students
- collaboration with colleagues from different departments, providing advise and support concerning experimental design, preparation of grant proposals, implementation of karyological and cytogenetical procedures, publication and presentation of results
Requirements:
- PhD, publications in IF journals, experience with grant applications and management
- ability to lead a laboratory (starting with one experienced technician and graduate/postgraduate students) and set-up new techniques
- knowledge, experience and recognised expertise within a specific research area relevant to karyology, cytogenetics and cytogenomics (experience with plant material is of advantage, but not a prerequisite)
- excellent communication and planning skills, ability to work collaboratively as well as independently
