Institute of Molecular Genetics of the ASCR, v. v. i. (IMG) invites applications for two independent postdoc researcher (IMG Fellow) positions
The Institute of Molecular Genetics of the Academy of Sciences is a leading Czech research institute in the field of molecular biology and genetics (www.img.cas.cz). We are offering a new state-of-the-art research facilities, excellent collaboration conditions and international working environment.
The purpose of the recruitment is to identify excellent and ambitious individuals with the ability to establish independent and original research early in their scientific carrier. Mentoring by more experienced scientists will provide IMG Fellows with administrative help and scientific guidance, including project discussions and joint lab meetings/journal clubs with the mentor's group. IMG Fellows will therefore be asked to nominate one of the IMG group leaders as their official mentor. However, IMG Fellows are expected to conduct and publish their research independently.
IMG Fellows are appointed for up to five years. No teaching duty is associated with the IMG Fellow position. IMG Fellows are expected to recruit undergraduate and/or PhD students, who will perform research under their guidance. External funding is highly desirable - it is expected that direct costs of research (including personnel costs) will be covered by extramural funding obtained prior or during the first year of the appointment. The IMG Fellow will be considered for promotion to a junior-group leader position at the IMG by the end of the fourth year. The evaluation will be performed by an expert committee nominated by the director and the Institute's Council.
Eligibility
Applicants should have obtained their PhD no more than 8 years prior to the date of application (May 31, 2014) and should be no more than 35 years old. Maternity (paternity) leave is excluded from both these time limits. Applicants from any area of molecular biology, cell and developmental biology, cancer biology, genetics, virology, or molecular immunology will be considered.
