Interaction of the late flowering genes in Arabidopsis thaliana and their localization on the genetic map

Project:  Interaction of the late flowering genes in Arabidopsis thaliana and their localization on the genetic map

Research institute: Faculty of Science MU Brno

Description:
Arabidopsis thaliana is the most significant model organism of plant genetics. Very intensive research is focused on the induction of the flowering in the last years. Relevant results revealed the complex of the regulation pathways of the transition from vegetative to reproductive stage. In the supporting research project, original late flowering mutants were used and new regulation pathway of the flowering time was found (Lízal and Relichová, 2001). Because FLC gene plays the central role in the control of the transition to flowering, the main goal of this POST-DOC project will be aimed at analysis of the influence of our characterised genes L4, L5, SPI and DN on the expression of the FLC gene. Expected results will enrich the current scheme of the flowering regulation pathways. For the analysis of interaction of our genes with FLC gene, two different genetic backgrounds will be used: C24 in which natural expression of the FLC gene was proved and Col or Ler background without expression of it.
