Junior IT Administrator

Type of job: part-time

The Stroke research team is looking for a part-time member for their IT team. The FNUSA-ICRC Stroke team is a young, dynamic, inter-disciplinary and international team, involved in multiple international research projects. We are looking for a person interested in developing their IT soft and hard skills, willing to learn and able to adapt quickly to a rapidly changing competitive research environment. You will have the opportunity to be mentored by our senior IT staff from Canada and to collaborate with teams from countries across the globe.

Job duties

  • Assist in the daily technical management of multiple on-going national and international research projects, including clinical research and e-learning platforms;
  • Assist in the development and maintenance of existing technical platforms;
  • Participate in the planning of future upgrades and platform extensions;
  • Interface with users and provide issue resolution and escalation, as needed;
  • Prepare technical and instructional documentation, as required.

Expected skills and abilities

Required:

  • 1 year experience working in an IT environment, or enrollment / diploma in Computer Science, Software Engineering or related field;
  • Strong interest in acquiring software development skills in a variety of software stacks;
  • Willingness and desire to learn new technologies;
  • Willingness to work as part of an international team, both with supervision and independently;
  • English language fluency – spoken and written English will be used on a daily basis;
  • Time flexibility;
  • Good communication skills.

Assets:

  • Experience administering Joomla sites;
  • Experience in software development, both front and back-end, e.g. PHP, Java, jQuery;
  • Experience working with Linux / UNIX;
  • Experience in scripting, e.g. Bash, Lua;
  • Experience working in a medical / research environment;
  • Interest in stroke / medical imaging research;
  • Knowledge of additional languages, especially Ukrainian, Polish, or Russian is a plus.
