Type of job: full-time
Institute of Molecular Genetics of the ASCR, v. v. i. (IMG) invites applications for full-time PhD positions in the project "Molecular regulation of axon growth and regeneration".
Applications are invited for two Ph.D. student positions in the department of Transgenic models of diseases, laboratory of Molecular Neurobiology, at the Institute of Molecular Genetics of the ASCR, v. v. i. (IMG, Prague, Czech Republic). The two positions (up to five years) are funded by a grant of the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports of the Czech Republic. The successful candidates will join a newly formed research laboratory headed by Martin Balastik, PhD (graduate from University of Göttingen, post-doctoral training at Harvard Medical School in Boston) and will learn and utilize advanced cellbiology, molecular-biology and imaging techniques, while analyzing the molecular mechanisms regulating axon growth and guidance. In particular, the research will focus on how these signaling processes are involved in neuron aging and axon regeneration, and will involve generation and analysis of mouse in vivo models.
We are seeking outstanding self-motivated candidates with master's degree in molecular biology, general biology, biochemistry or related fields. We are offering research at a state-of-the-art equipped institute with experienced colleagues, international working environment and international
collaborations.
The positions are available from April 2012.
For further information please contact Martin Balastik (martin.balastik@img.cas.cz). Applications in English including structured CV containing research experience and a letter of interest should be sent to the email address above.
