PostDocs in a research group for the mathematical modeling of a cyanobacterial cell CyanoTeam

Description:

Applications are invited for 2 PostDocs to work on cyanobacterial systems biology. Within the project "CyanoTeam", the objective of the modeling group is to collaborate closely with an experimental as well as a computer science group in order to develop an integrated model of a cyanobacterial cell. The project enables experimental biologists to study questions like stress response, metabolic rhythms, and biofuel production by using high-end lab equipment including photobioreactors, imaging flow cytometer, fluorescence activated cell sorter, GC-MS, and Orbitrap LC/MS. The computational biologists develop mathematical models of the intra- and extracellular processes involved. For example, they reconstruct metabolic networks, investigate circadian clocks, and determine carbon exchange rates. In particular, they formulate testable hypothesis about possible mechanisms for the experimental observations.

Requirements:

Applicants should have a PhD in mathematics, physics or a related field and a strong interest in computational modeling of biological systems. The project language is English.
