Postdoctoral position in plant physiology

Type of job: full-time

Sensing water availability in environment by plants and consequent adjustment of transpiration rate is a complex process that includes several signalling mechanisms that may interact. This project is focused namely on chemical long distance signals that are transported from root to shoot via xylem and mechanisms perception of these signals in leaf cells. Combination methods of plant physiology, biochemistry and molecular biology, should bring more insight in interplay between ABA and other signals delivered to leaves in transpiration stream and mechanisms of transduction of information from root signals to stomata. Temporal dynamics of the signalling process in response to changes in soil water availability will be also of interest. Work on this EU-funded project will is conducted in collaboration with PhD students and research partners at several institutions in Europe.
