Preclinical Studies Provide Additional Safety and Efficacy Evidence for VaxGen's Smallpox Vaccine Candidate

Data from a series of preclinical studies presented by the Chemo-Sero Therapeutic Research Institute (KAKETSUKEN) at the 53rd Annual Conference of the Japanese Society of Virology provided additional evidence of the safety and efficacy of an attenuated smallpox vaccine being developed by VaxGen, Inc. (Pink Sheets: VXGN.PK). The attenuation refers to a genetic modification that is intended to improve the vaccine's safety.
