Research Group Leader position in Neurobiology and Nanoelectronics

CEITEC at the Masaryk University Brno seeks to appoint a senior-level scientist as a research Group Leader of a new RG Neurobiology and Nanoelectronics, Brain and Mind Research Programme.

Ideal candidate should employ multi-disciplinary approach with potential to bridge material and biological sciences in CEITEC and create cohesions between these two branches.

The research should focus on activity of neuronal networks induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSC). Investigation of neurons in disease states or modified by introduction of mutant voltage-gated ion channels and synaptic proteins are highly welcome.

Successful candidates must hold a PhD degree in a relevant field and are expected to have an independent and internationally competitive research profile and to attract external funding. A competitive start-up package will be offered.

The RG will benefit from excellent instruments equipment and multiple research platforms within CEITEC such as proteomics and genomic, structural analysis, functional imaging as well as from tight collaboration with research groups of Cellular and Molecular Neurobiology, Neurogenetics, and Smart nanodevices.

The material sciences will provide electrophysiological instruments at the nanoscale, facilities for in-house construction of multiple electrodes arrays and detection instruments. This includes facilities for the generation of nanodevices. The biological laboratories are fully equipped for cell culture work, molecular biology experiments including cloning and lentivirus production. Furthermore, laboratories are equipped with several fluorescent and confocal microscopes for immunofluorescent cells and histological analyses.

CEITEC (www.ceitec.eu) is a scientific center in the fields of life sciences, advanced materials and technologies whose aim is to establish itself as a recognized center for basic as well as applied research. This recently formed organization strives to use best practices in conducting scientific research, as well as administrative oversight of the project.
