Remember Carl Sagan, presenter of the award-winning scientific TV series Cosmos?

That's who we are looking for: our own Carl Sagan-a promising scientist with superior communication skills who will fascinate audiences with the mysteries of hydroponics.

Who are we? We are the global innovation and quality leader in hydroponic nutrients and equipment. The science of hydroponics is the science behind our products, so it is crucial we make it understandable and interesting to the public. If you fit the "Sagan" mold and would like to embark upon a career in popular and commercial science, we invite you to join our team.

QUALIFICATIONS

You will hold a PhD in horticulture, biochemistry, or a closely related field, and you will think-and dream!-much like Carl Sagan did. You will be passionate about talking about science. You simply cannot remain silent about it.? However, the communication potential of mass media has changed a lot since Sagan's day, so you will communicate like a TED presenter. Other qualifications:

You will be fluent in spoken English, capable of speaking clearly and precisely;
You will be willing to travel to tradeshows and conferences on regular basis for live speaking engagements about our products and the science behind them;
You will have good stage and camera presence-and be capable of improving;
You will be willing to attend training workshops in communication skills;
You will understand and adhere to the principles of Nancy Duarte;
You will be committed to liberalizing cannabis legislation;
You will be an evangelizer of hydroponics.

CONDITIONS

Duration: indefinite;
Status: contractor (živnostník);
Capacity: minimum 40 hours/week, 48 weeks/year
USD 15 (currently CZK ~300) per hour

HOW TO APPLY

WHAT TO EXPECT

1. We will respond to your application within two weeks.

2. If we think you might be our Carl Sagan, we will invite you to the first round of interviews (day, time, and location in Prague, Czech Republic TBD).

3. At this first round of interviews, we will ask you the usual questions (as well as a few unusual ones) and invite you to present for 10 min. on a scientific topic of your choice.

4. If you make it into our short list of candidates, we will ask you to produce a short video:

We will give you the topic (TBD);
You will have two weeks to research, prepare, and share the video;
We won't pay any attention to the technical quality of the video. Just a home video camera-and yourself-are enough. What will matter to us:

a) Your "story" (i.e., how you explain the science) and

b) Your "storytelling" (i.e., your presence);

Indeed, if you put a lot of effort into a big, complicated video production, yet your story and storytelling are weak, you won't pass this second round;
