Job description: The project focuses on the hot topic of engineering nitrogen fixation in eukaryotic organisms (Science 333: 416-417). Successful candidate will join a well-funded world-class laboratory in the field to work on a highly ambitious project. The successful candidate will support the PI in supervising postdoctoral fellows and technicians and is expected to assume responsibility for project progress. She/he will use English to interact with postdoctoral fellows in a dynamic and international environment.
Candidate Requirements: Ph.D. in Biochemistry or related areas (Biological Sciences, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering) with 6-10 years of postdoctoral experience. The successful candidate will be an expert in protein biochemistry with focus on one of these areas: nitrogenase, hydrogenase, iron-sulfur protein biogenesis, or SAM-radical proteins. The successful candidate will have demonstrated excellence as judged by publication record, funding record and awards. Demonstrated experience training and supervising students and/or postdocs will be greatly appreciated. Excellent communication skills required.
Conditions: Research contract of two years with an additional two-year extension subject to achievement of project requirements. Annual gross salary is 50.000-60.000 € according to profile and candidate experience. Starting date: May 1, 2012 (or later by agreement).
