Research institute: | Division of Biomolecular Physics, Institute of Physics |
Description: | |
The grant project is devoted to the study of the spectroscopic characteristics of modified oligonucleotides, novel-type synthetic molecules, with chemotherapheutic interest and their interactions with biological systems. Main attention will be focused on systematic research of physicochemical properties of uptake and distribution of modified as well as natural oligonucleotides. Experiments will be carried out on the three types of systems (from the simplest to the most complicated): 1) model system liposome, 2) plant cell, yeast, like model of eucaryotic organism and 3) animal cell. The project will be studied by means of steady-state and time-resolved fluorescence spectroscopy applied at the macroscopic level (cell suspensions) as well as at the microscopic level (liposomes, cells "in situ"). |
