Type of job: full-time
The researcher will be employed at the department of Hydrochemistry and Ecosystem Modelling which works in an interdisciplinary way while studying limnology of lakes and reservoir with a stress on biogeochemical processes within the whole catchment-lake ecosystem. Many activities are primarily related to long-term monitoring of aquatic ecosystems and implementation of the Water Framework Directive. Another focus area is the climate change and its potential effects on hydrology, water resources and water quality.
An important task of the position will be the development and application of models, describing hydrological and biogeochemical processes and their effects on biota and water quality in the runoff from catchments, reservoirs, and lakes. Climate change impacts are anticipated to raise new research needs in this scientific field. Our department has a deliberate goal to increase our competence in modeling and the position can in the long run be expanded to include coordination of the modeling team at the department. In addition to research activities, the participation in consultancy and management oriented projects related to management of water quality in reservoirs and other water resources is anticipated.
