Second Faculty of Medicine
The 2nd Faculty of Medicine has taken on the history of Charles University, which was established in 1348 and continues the nearly fifty-year-old tradition of the former Faculty of Paediatrics of Charles University in Prague.The Motol-based 2nd Faculty of Medicine offers both pregradual and postgradual education to students, doctors and other professional staff working in all fields of medicine. In addition to that the Faculty allows to acquire more profound knowledge in all pediatric medical branches. The Faculty brings up medical doctors well educated in general medicine, emphasising developmental and psychosocial aspects in educational and research activities. The Faculty also provides the training of general practitioners and family doctors. After gaining their specialisations the 2nd Faculty of Medicine graduates can work as paediatricians, general practitioners or specialists in various medical fields both for pediatric and adult patients. In the academic year 1992/93 the educational programme in English language for foreign students was launched at the 2nd Faculty of Medicine. The Bachalor degree training has been provided since 1994 (Optics and Optometrics, Physiotherapy). A total of about 1,000 students are presently studying at the Faculty.
