Faculty of Forestry and Wood Technology

The Faculty of Forestry and Wood Technology at Mendel University in Brno (FFWT MENDELU) is one of the major university teaching institutions in the Czech Republic, concentrating on research, and academic activities in the areas of forestry, landscaping, arboriculture, forestry and wood technology, processing and furniture design. Our mission is to facilitate education, to support scientific-research and to nurture creative ecologically sound activities related to land, forests, wood and interior with an emphasis on ecological and aesthetics and building of public awareness there to. Our faculty is a part of Mendel University in Brno, a public university whose tradition dates back to 1919. Research on the FFWT MENDELU is mainly funded by projects of departmental programs at national and international institutions, grant agencies, national and international programs. As a result, we have top-equipped laboratories, testing laboratories, studios and workshops. Our supercomputing centre is a part of the prestigious European network EGEE and transnational project MetaCentrum. Terminal computing infrastructure solutions are built on open source technologies and opens up the possibility of using free software in the university environment.
