Department of Cell Biology and Genetics
The Department of Cell Biology and Genetics is the youngest of the biological sciences departments at Palacky University. Founded in 1993, it consists of the Genetics and Molecular Biology sections. Lectures are given by 10 lecturers and researchers from the branches of Genetics, Cytogenetics, Cell Biology, Cytotaxonomy, Molecular Biology, Virology and Evolutionary Biology. Lectures are complemented by practicals in which the students achieve the basic working skills of the discipline as well as being exposed to theoretically and technically complex observations and experimental methods. As a part of a postgraduate programme at the Department doctoral students attend the lectures and work on their research project.
