The department owns specialised laboratories of animal morphology, physiology and molecular genetic and cell analyses. The laboratory equipment permits application of basic work techniques and research methods on molecular level. The department has two specialised genetics laboratories: Laboratory of Animal Molecular Genetics and Laboratory of Applied Molecular Genetics (LAMGen).
The research of the group of animal morphology, physiology and veterinary is aimed to immunological characterisation of bovine mammary gland defense system; apoptosis and necrosis of neutrophils and macrophages and its role in resolution of acute mastitis; activation of neutrophils and macrophages; isolation techniques and their effect on survival of blood neutrophils. Determination of internal environment parameters of different domestic animals species and categories at different experimental interventions` evaluation (haematological, biochemical and hormonal profile of blood).
