THE 3RD CEE PHARMACEUTICAL MANUFACTURING EXCELLENT AWARDS WERE HANDED OUT

More than 400 decision makers and professionals attended PHARM Connect this year from over 25 countries with the same purpose: sharing their experiences, building new partnerships, finding the best solutions for their company and preparing for the challenges of the new regulations.

The organizer - TEG The Events Group - is passionate about bringing together annually the most renowned, high-profile representatives and innovators of the pharmaceutical and biotech industry to create a valuable and engaged professional networking platform within the CEE region. Furthermore with the support of the Hungarian Pharmaceutical Manufacturers Association (MAGYOSZ) the Central Eastern European Pharmaceutical Manufacturing Excellence Award was handed out in 2 categories for the 3^rd time to honour, recognise and promote outstandingpharmaceutical manufacturing innovations and excellent solutions implemented in the region.

The applications were evaluated based on their level of cost-effectiveness, quality, service and innovation by 6 independent jury members from leading CEE Universities and associations.

This year the Award ceremony opened by Dr. Lajos Hegedűs – former General Manager at TEVA Pharmaceuticals - who announced the winners and handed out the 3^rd CEE Pharmaceutical Manufacturing Awards to the French-Polish company Blulog in the service provider category and to the Hungarian company Meditop in the manufacturer category. As part of the conference programme winners also had a great opportunity to present their winning projects to the top managers of the industry raising awareness and further recognition of their innovations and companies as well.

Excellent temperature and humidity control during drug transportation

In the „service provider category” the winner developed an innovative solution for temperature and humidity monitoring and produced NFC (Near Field Communication) connected boxes to assure the wireless and precise temperature and humidity monitoring during drug transportation. The innovative solution providing outstanding assistance not only for transportation issues but warehousing and store of perishable materials, temperature-sensitive chemicals, pharmaceuticals and vaccines as well.

With NFC data loggers clients easily can monitor the temperature of their products during transportation and the data are real-time readable with a simple smartphone application. Thanks to the RF system, the small (bankcard size) tool also providing alerts via SMS or email, if temperature falls below the critical value or the package set damaged.

The award winnerBlulog is a fast-growing medium-sized company who invented and developed also the cutting-edge Coldfinder, a QR code which allows consumers to check for themselves that the products offered in supermarkets were kept in the right temperature conditions or Blutrack that allows not only track temperature and humidity parameters, but also the geolocation of their assets. Excellent film coating innovation for heat sensitive actives and soft tablets

In the „manufacturer category” the winner developed an innovative approach to improve film coating efficiency with developing and applying of a continuous film coater. One of the keys to success is the quick adaptation to the challenges during the development and manufacturing of coated tablets. Accordingly a project had been initiated with the aim to build up a new internal approach to improve the efficiency and quality of non-functional coating processes with readiness to support the special market needs. With the innovation of the Hungarian drug manufacturer, Meditop successfully developed a method to coat heat sensitive actives, soft tablets without degradation. The development and manufacturing strategy for the high quality coating step effectively facilitates the progression of coating projects executed by Meditop Pharmaceuticals which develops and manufactures its own products and produces solid dosage forms in flexible manner.
